We like to think our anger at slow walkers is a harmless pet peeve, a joke, a Hugh Grant rant 🤬

But in a culture that equates busyness with worth, moving slowly often reads as failure.
Slowness is perceived as inconveniencing others, taking up too much time, too much space.

As someone who lives in a body that can’t always keep up, this article isn’t about etiquette. It’s about what we signal when we decide who belongs in public spaces, and who doesn’t.

In 2025 I became a published author 🥹

At the start of the year I begged my disabled-ass body to show up for me throughout this year of travel and book events knowing that I was asking too much but also that it was a once in a lifetime kind of deal.

And here we are! Thank you, body! 🖤 You complained a lot but we got it done and it was amazing.

Thank you, husband, for carrying my shit and pushing me when I was too tired to walk, and for making sure I always had coffee and a pastry no matter which city I woke up in.

One million thank yous to everyone who showed up for me this year. I can think of at least 6 of you who got on a plane for me 🖤 that’s true love 🙏

Thank you, Trippers, for reading my book, for coming to my launch and other events, for telling your friends, for leaving reviews, for sharing your own stories with me.

Wishing you all peace and lots of main character energy as we roll into 2026.

In a year when there were a number of garbage fire

In a year when there were a number of garbage fires a lot of us would like to forget, I want to remember the truly magical experience of my first book (Fallosophy: My Trip Through Life with MS) being published 🙏

I got to meet and share a stage with so many incredible authors on my book tour and if you made an impression on me, well, your book is now living on my bookshelf but also in miniature form on my tree! 🎄

Treatment with steroids and other factors put us at higher risk of developing dusty bones which can make falls catastrophic ☠️

We got stuck in the accessible elevator then had t

We got stuck in the accessible elevator then had to walk to the back alley to access the definitely haunted service elevator. (Which had a rickety too-steep ramp and a handful of unsafe steps but at this point I was unwilling to waste a full face of makeup and go home. I may have also been motivated by the promise of wine 🍷)

I powered thru. I had help.

Once inside, I sipped Merlot and snacked on canapés while elevator technicians were called to fix the problem. 😮‍💨

When we were ready to leave we were assured things had been tested and were working but THEN we got trapped again! 😳

We hauled ourselves back to the haunted elevator and waited for an uber in the freezing cold alley. 🥶

Just another day of doing what we do to keep showing up in the world.
