2024 Tripping on Air Gift Guide and Giveaways For People With MS

This year’s Tripping on Air holiday gift guide and giveaways for people with MS is back and bigger than ever.

Tripping on Air has the best list of gifts and giveaways of 2024 for people with MS!

Braille Fashion from Aille

My first MS symptom was optic neuritis. When it comes to vision loss, there isn’t just one kind of blindness or universal experience. Aille (pronounced “eye”) makes beautiful braille fashion using Swarovski crystals and pearls, like this T-shirt that says: Fashion is for everyone.

Aille offers a number of beautiful garments and accessories with empowering braille messages, or you can even customize your own!

Enter to win this Barbie™ x Aille Design black satin scarf with white braille beadwork.

Featuring over 400 Swarovski pearls, the while braille beadwork encourages you to share you story and think about how you wish to be seen.

Portable Bidet

MS can mess with your bladder. As a self-catheterizer, I was prone to regular urinary tract infections. I took prophylactic antibiotics for years. Then, about two years ago, The Banker installed a bidet attachment to the toilet and not only have I avoided any new infections, I’ve been able to come off the antibiotics entirely. If the Tripper in your life suffers from MS-related UTIs, this super-cheap portable bidet makes a great stocking stuffer. I found this one on Amazon for about fifteen bucks. It’s marketed as a post-partum tool because I guess the bidet people don’t know about the MS market? My portable bidet has become an essential part of my travel kit.

A portable bidet is a great gift for someone with MS who is prone to UTIs.

A Glow-up by Cheekbone Beauty

The holidays are a time of socializing when we want to look our best. I know that when I’m feeling tired and cranky or even a little MSy, a bit of lipstick and mascara can improve my personality. I love following Cheekbone on Insta for awesome makeup tips.

Cheekbone beauty products

Cheekbone Beauty is an Indigenous-owned beauty brand with truly sustainable high-quality cosmetics. Cheekbone is gifting one lucky Tripper with a Glow-Up Gift pack valued at more than $200, that includes favourites like their Courage Cream Lip & Cheek, Healing Lip Oils, and Illuminating Primer stick.

Hair dryer stand or wall-mounted hair dryer holder

Because sometimes the difference between Clean Hair Day and another Dry Shampoo Day is whether or not you have the strength to hold a hair dryer. I bought this stand on Amazon last year and it saves me time and energy every day. I mean, not every day. Just the days when I actually wash my hair.

Cadense Adaptive Sneakers

Cadense Adaptive sneakers are a great gift for people with MS who experience drop foot.

This sneaker was the breakout star of functional fashion for the MS community in 2024. The Cadense Original Adaptive Shoe features groundbreaking technology that allows the wearer to slide over obstacles with ease. They are super lightweight and easy to slip on. These kicks help so much with my foot-drop and are the only shoes I can safely wear without an AFO. The rest of the shoes in my closet are feeling lonely and neglected because the Cadense shoe is the one I reach for almost every day. They’re like a mobility aid you can wear. I hope Santa brings everyone with foot drop a pair of Cadense Adaptive shoes in their favourite colour.

Jewelry Makeover

If your loved-one has difficulty with dexterity, necklaces and bracelets can be a demoralizing frustration. Consider taking some of their most hard-to-handle pieces to a jeweller who can replace traditional clasps and claws with magnetic closures.

A practical cane

3rd Foot Canes make a great gift for people with MS who experience drop foot.

If you follow me on social media you will often see me rocking a rollator, but the mobility aids I use in my apartment on the daily, are two of the brilliant 3rd Foot Canes by Aligned as Designed. The 3rd Foot Cane is designed to help you maintain balance, stability and posture by moving with you the way a foot would.

And, Aligned as Design is giving one away!

Kindle Accessories

There’s nothing worse than having to extricate my hand from my perfectly swaddled blanket cocoon in order to turn the page on my Kindle. That’s why this automatic page-turner is at the top of my own personal wish list this Christmas. E-readers are great for people who have difficulty with dexterity, low-vision, or even muscle weakness that can make holding a book fatiguing. If your e-reader is too hard to hang onto, or like me, you wanna keep your hands warm, a goose-neck tablet mount that attaches to your bed or nightstand is a great solution and a thoughtful gift!

Speaking of reading…

If you are one of those people who is always late with holiday gifts, then this is the gift idea for you because technically my upcoming memoir Fallosophy doesn’t come out until March 2025.

If your loved one doesn’t mind an IOU or a gift-to-follow type situation, you can preorder Fallosophy now! Preorders are important for new authors and so one million thank yous for all the love and support this community is already showing me and this book.

And, of course we’re giving a copy away to one lucky Tripper!

This book is a great gift for people with MS.

Warmer Feet

You guys know how much I complain about the MS-related dysesthesia that makes my feet medically cold. In the past, I’ve proclaimed my love for charcoal adhesive toe warmers, but this year I discovered something cozier and even more effective. It’s a hot water bottle for your feet! I found it on Amazon for about 25 bucks! It’s super toasty and it stays warm for hours.

IZ Adaptive Reversible Lap Blanket

While planning a recent trip to Paris I considered taking a blanket to use while seated in Optimus Prime, my convertible rollator/transport chair, but my wool throws are all too big for my carry-on and I ended up packing a hot-water bottle instead. I didn’t know until after my trip that IZ Adaptive already created the wheelchair blanket of my dreams. This fleece-lined reversible lap blanket is the perfect size. It’s water-resistant and it’s about to become the Christmas gift I get for myself. Thanks to IZ Adaptive for making all kinds of brilliant adaptive clothing and accessories, and for gifting one lucky Tripper with this cleverly constructed reversible lap blanket!

ByAcre Rollator

A perennial favourite, it’s no secret that I love a good looking, highly functional, lightweight mobility aid. If you have questions about byAcre or other mobility devices, check out the Tripping on Air podcast interview we did with Rollator Queen, Suzanne, or read my review here.

Many thanks to Canadian distributor Prairie Velo for donating the Nordic Pioneer to this year’s giveaway!

*must be a resident of Canada to win this prize

Mobility aids like this byAcre rollator make a great gift for people with MS and we have one to giveaway!

Knowledge

We still don’t know the cure for MS, but there are constant medical breakthroughs, new products, and even MS gossip that can be tough to stay on top of. Fortunately, Kathy Young publishes the FUMS 6-pack: a well-curated weekly newsletter that highlights six MS-related news stories that will keep you in the loop with the latest in MS. The best part? This gift is free! The second best part? Kathy is funny af and swears almost as much as me.

Cute merch from FUMS makes a great gift for someone with MS. And there's a giveaway!

The FUMS shop is full of swag that gives the middle finger to MS and Kathy is gifting one lucky Tripper the item of their choice!

How cute is this hat??

Kathy works her ass off for the MS community. Us! We can show Kathy some love by subscribing to FUMS on Youtube. Let’s help her get to 1000 subscribers!
